Harleston Angling Club Junior Results For July 11th 2002This fourth round competition attracted another excellent turn out as eighteen young anglers lined the banks of Weybread Middle Pit.
The father and son combination of Daniel Elliott and his father Simon again proved unstoppable with Daniel crushing the field with another big weight of 36lb 13oz. This means eleven year old Daniel has now won the series with two matches still left to fish, with a maximum 80 points from four straight wins and an average weight of over 37lb. Daniel caught four monster Carp from unfancied peg 15 in the corner on long pole and soft pellet hook baits and fed heavily with "Will's Pellets" to attract the fish, his haul included a new personal best Carp of 12lb 11oz the biggest of his two 12lb plus fish, one of which was foul hooked in the tail.
Only two weeks ago Thomas Sage was bottom of the league with two dry nets from the first two competitions, so he asked the clubs coach for some advice to improve his catches, last week with a little advice and help he managed over nine pounds of quality fish. This week Thomas stormed up to a new high taking third place with an all carp catch of 19lb 3oz from peg 22. Thomas started well with a personal best carp weighing 10lb 3oz on his first cast of the night and added two more on waggler fished expander pellets before losing another big fish late on costing him the second prize. Fourth place was a peg-to-peg battle between young Harley Moss from Scole fishing only his second competition and ten-year-old Kieron Loane. Harley weighed 10lb 10oz with a personal best 10lb 8oz carp and two tiny Perch. Kieron also caught a new personal best Carp of 9lb 15oz and two nice Roach to total 10lb 7oz just three ounces short of Harley Moss. Kieron also had the fun of his big Carp leaping out of his net knocking most of his bait supply into the lake and some of his hard earned tackle.
