Harleston Angling Club Junior Results For July 18th 2002Harleston Junior Angling Clubs excellent attendance record continued with eighteen keen junior anglers turning up for this fifth and penultimate round of the summer league, held in Weybread Club Pit.
At the final weigh in it was Jack Weatherley, who after an epic battle lasting just under an hour with a massive 10lb 15oz Carp recorded his first match win, and finally ended Daniel Elliott's winning run. Jack drew end peg 16 with the wind blowing into his corner, and started well catching plenty of small fish in the margins using a short pole with maggot hook baits and pellet feed before the carp moved into his peg. Eleven-year-old Jack then lost two good fish before hooking his monster which is his biggest ever fish, the carp tested his four pound line to the limit for nearly an hour before he safely netted it in the final minutes of the match to catapult him to top spot, added to his small fish his final weight of 16lb 9oz was nearly six pounds clear of Daniel Elliott.
Karl Shiplee fished long pole and pellet to the island on peg seven to catch 9lb 1oz of small Carp, this good performance pushes him up to third place in the league with one competition left to fish.
