Harleston Angling Club Junior Results For July 25th 2002Sixteen junior anglers turned out for this last round of the Harleston junior summer series held at Weybread Middle pit on Thursday evening.
Daniel Elliott took top honours for the fifth time this season with a four Carp catch weighing 26lb 12oz from peg 11 on the floating pole method. Daniel fed heavily with Will's Pellets to attract the fish to his peg and used meat on the hook. Pushing Daniel all the way till the end was thirteen-year-old Thomas Sage (Pictured Right) from Harleston improving rapidly after his poor start to the season. Thomas fished with his new pole for the first time and after a shaky start in which he lost two good fish, he settled down to bag three big Carp on expander pellets fished at 11metres to finish one fish short of pole position with 21lb 4oz.This second place was his highest finish and his biggest match weight to date. The nineteen points he gained also moved Thomas up the league ten places to finish a very creditable third in his first season with the club. Chris Tricker (Right) was another angler who has suffered poor form in the early part of the season only to come good at the end with a three Carp catch weighing 17lb 9oz, again this was also his biggest match weight and highest position ever. Chris drew peg 22 and opted to fish the method feeder loaded with a sweet smelling Geers ground bait on top of the gravel bar at 25 metres, and was instantly rewarded with a big fish on his very first cast of the night. He added two slightly smaller specimens with floating maggot hook baits mid match before suffering a bad spell towards the end in which he lost three good Carp and with them the chance of a higher position. Chris grinned afterwards "I only wanted to catch one big Carp in a competition but to catch three was amazing." Kyle savage from Lodden landed two nice carp from peg 20 on chum mixer fished on the surface to finish fourth with 12lb 10oz. Match Facts.Attendance : 16 ![]() Fifth position ended as a tie between Diss star Ricky Leggett fishing the long pole and sweetcorn on peg 3, with a catch of small carp and skimmers weighing 9lb 11oz and thirteen year old Lisa Sillett from Upper Weybread, Lisa landed a 9lb 10oz Carp and a small Roach fishing short pole with Casters over hemp seed.
