Autumn Shield 2005.

Match winner Jack Weatherley with his catch.Harleston and Wortwell's Junior Angling Clubs Annual Autumn Open held last Saturday in the Ocean pit at Weybread attracted a small but dedicated group of the areas top junior anglers. The pits slow form in the early season did not dampen competitor's spirits.

Club captain Jack Weatherley 14 of Harleston was winner on the day from peg 14 on the roadside to win the shield for the 3rd time in 4 years. Jack pole fished at 11 meters on the bottom to catch 4lb 13oz of small roach and perch on maggot. Jack balled in 18 large balls of Sensas groundbait and brown crumb with casters at the start of the match, the plan worked to perfection and he had a roach immediately but then sport slowed and he had few fish in the first half of the mach. In the second half of the match his swim came alive with fish, which had moved over his groundbait. Jack said "I am really happy with how I fished as it all came together in the end, it was a hard day and I was pleased that everybody stuck at it and fished their best on such a hard day".

Second place was a tie between Daniel Elliott and Charlie Hodd, they both weighed 2lb 14oz, Daniel fished the feeder all match to catch perch, roach and a small skimmer from peg 4. Charlie came 2nd for the 4th year on the trot. Fishing peg 8 he pole fished with maggot to catch roach and perch on the bottom.

Phillip Shulver came 4th with a few small roach and a good-sized skimmer to weigh 1lb 11oz.Autumn Shield Competitiors.
