Harleston Junior Angling Club Autumn Shield Result 2003.
An excellent performance of long pole fishing by sixteen-year-old James Blake from Fressingfield saw him lift the trophy with a 5lb 8oz catch of Roach including three bonus skimmers and an Eel. James drew well with peg 20 in the reeds providing some shelter from the wind, he balled in four balls of groundbait at eleven meters on the whistle then loose fed casters over the top, James presented his rig hard on the bottom alternating red maggot and caster on the hook. James won a ten pounds tackle voucher a new Keepnet and the large wooden shield for his trophy cabinet. Charlie Hodd's hard practice paid off with a second placed finish for the second consecutive year with an all Roach catch weighing 4lb 1/2oz from peg ten in the middle of the match length. Charlie fished a similar match to James balling in at the start then loose feeding hemp and caster over the top, with bronze maggot or caster presented on a small size twenty hook just of the bottom. Diss youngster Ricky Leggett filled third place pole fishing at nine meters with hemp and bronze maggot from peg twelve, landing an all roach catch weighing a very creditable 2lb 12oz. Top feeder weight of the day came from Fish'o'Mania champion Daniel Elliott who sat it out for bream all day to land two good skimmers and a big roach on worm and maggot from peg four to weigh 2lb 5 ½oz.
