Disabled Angling at Weybread Pits. Sadly the disabled access is very limited at the Weybread Fishing complex due to the steep sided nature of these old gravel workings, but where possible the Harleston Fishing Club has done what it can to provide some excellent purpose made disabled fishing platforms where the terrain will allow. These specially designed pegs are reserved for disabled anglers from the start of the season in April until the 1st of October except on match days, after October disabled anglers still have priority and on request all able bodied anglers should move peg.
Sadly the two club owned waters, the Dan Turton Pit and the Club Pit have no disabled access. The Middle Pit has three disabled pegs, pegs 1, 3 and 4 nearest to the main car park. These three pegs are amongst the best in the lake producing some excellent fishing throughout the whole season. The No1 Pit has four pegs 1, 2, 3 and 17 reserved, pegs one to three provide good sport to float anglers, with plenty of small roach and skimmers shoaling up in this area. Peg 17 in the main car park is one of the best pegs in the pit, the shallow bars attracting big bream shoals throughout the warmer months. The prevailing southwest wind also blows into this corner attracting the lakes big carp.
Other easy access, Short Walk Pegs. There are also some easy access pegs for anglers with limited mobility. Pegs 22-28 and pegs 35, 36, 2 and 5 in the Middle Pit are all reasonably easy to access. In the No1 Pit try pegs 4-5 and 15-19 all of which are close to the car parks, for close parking in the Ocean Pit head for pegs 37-44 on the peat bank or pegs 102-118 in the backwater at the Withersdale end of the lake.
