Harleston and Wortwell Junior Angling Club 2004.

Weybread Middle Pit, Round Four of the Harleston Junior Angling Club's summer series.

WinnerDaniel Elliott holds his 13lb 1oz mirror. The fourth round of the Harleston Junior summer league saw Jack Weatherley and reigning champion Daniel Elliott continue their battle for supremacy, responding to last weeks victory by Jack Weatherley, Daniel pulled out all the stops to snatch a late win from Jack and level the points with just two rounds left to fish.

Daniel Elliott drew peg 17 and opted for the popular method feeder tactic but suffered a slow start with no indications of fish in the first hour, meanwhile on the opposite bank Jack was finding fish with every cast and was way out in front and looked to be heading for a huge weight. Watching the competition slip away he changed tactics to surface fished PCM (Pedigree Chum Mixer) in conjunction with a waggler set up, this change brought instant results with four big fish landed in the next hour to put him right back in the match. Then a piece of good fortune saw him foul hook and land a monster 13lb 1oz carp after a mammoth forty minute battle to tip the scales in his favour. His five fish total banged the scales round to 44lb 10 oz beating Jack by just 6lb and top a class field of seventeen anglers.

Jack Weatherley in action.Jack Weatherley fishing favoured peg 36 again opted for the method feeder, within seconds of the starting whistle he was into his first fish a nice carp of about four pounds, for the next hour sport was fast and furious as fish after fish fell for his hair rigged pellet hookbaits. Just when he looked like a sure bet to smash the club record the fish again moved to leave him struggling for fish until the final whistle. His final weight of 38lb 14oz just short of Daniel. Afterwards jack said "I'm gutted I had the match in the bag only to get beaten by a foul hooked carp, only Daniel is that lucky anyone else would have lost it."

Ever improving Edward Howman fishing peg 22 landed three carp and three bream on the method feeder to narrowly beat Thomas Sage into third place with 22lb 7oz.

Fourth placed Thomas Sage caught a mixed catch of carp skimmers and crucians for a respectable total of 20lb 6oz from peg 11 again on method feeder.

Club match record holder Gavin Woodward weighed 13lb 7oz for fifth and James Collings recorded his best ever match catch an excellent mixed bag of roach, rudd, bream and some very small carp, including a seasons best bream a nice fish weighing 2lb 11oz in his pole and maggot caught 11lb 1oz bag.
