Harleston's Junior Anglers hotly contested summer league attracted another good turnout with fourteen young hopefuls lining the bank of the Middle pit keen to do well in this final round match. The youngsters were once again greeted with ominous looking grey skies and with high water levels luckily the clouds passed and a hat-trick of soakings was avoided.

Nathan English with his second placed catch.Harleston regular Shane Riches was a popular and fitting winner in his last competition as a junior top scoring from peg 23 with a good display of patience and skill on what proved to be a hard nights fishing. Shane suffered a slow start as did much of the field but he stuck to his plan to target the lakes big Carp whilst others around him swapped tactics, targeting silver fish in a bid to grab valuable points. His luck changed mid match when his patience finally paid off with a big Mirror Carp gracing the net, three more followed at regular intervals as he finished the night well out in front with four big Carp weighing 28lb 4oz an impressive catch on the night all tempted on the candle rig with banded pellet.

Second on the night was Yaxley youngster Jake McDowell unlike most of the field Jake got of to a flying start landing a big Carp off the surface in the first ten minutes, a slow hour after soon saw him switch to pole and he never looked back landing quality Roach and Skimmers on pellet for a very respectable 19lb 8oz mixed catch.

Third placed Jake Mcdowell in action.Nathan English finished third topping the chasing pack, drawing one of the favoured car park pegs, peg 1 he stuck to the candle rig with pellet to land three Carp totalling 14lb 8oz beating of a strong challenge from Oliver Elton pole fishing the margins of peg 11 with pellet to land quality Roach and Skimmers for 13lb 8oz.

Lewis Allen was all smiles as he landed the biggest fish of the season a superb 10lb 13oz monster enough for fifth place his best result yet.

On the league front the top four results from the series count, and this seasons club champion was Caden Spooner who amassed 79 points from the first four matches. Travis Woodward suffered a bad night finishing well back but still he held on to his second place with 73 points. Shane Riches fine win pushed him up two places to third with 68 points just piping Jack Morton by one point after he had suffered a bad night. Oliver Elton finished fifth on weight count back after drawing on points with Jake. Jake finally taking the verdict by just five ounces, landing 57lb 1oz to Oliver's 56lb 12oz.
