Harleston Angling Club Junior Results July 24th 2003.

The Harleston Angling Club Juniors saved the best to last, with the fifteen lucky anglers landing a massive total of 211lbs of Carp in their final league competition of the season. Good fishing weather leading up to the match with a warm rainstorm to clear the air and drop the air pressure, coupled with six weeks of hard practice since the start of the season led to some huge catches as the fish finally went on a feeding frenzy.

Topping the weights with a new junior club record of 57lbs 15oz was Harleston regular Thomas Sage. Thomas fished the method feeder with Geers method mix from peg 17, a single dead maggot presented on a tiny size 18 hook and 3lb hooklength led to the downfall of eight big carp. Thomas netted one good carp at the start to settle the nerves then added seven more big fish in a mad final hour including a season and personal best 11lb 12oz specimen. The twenty points for the win also boosted Thomas to a fourth place league finish.

A number of lost fish cost Jack Weatherley (above right)top spot and the league runners up medal as he finished 14lb short of Thomas with 43lb 7oz even after loosing six fish. Jack drew peg 22 and again opted for the method feeder, single dead maggot on a small hook attack, Jack lost three fish in the first four casts before settling down to bag eight slightly smaller fish and a bronze medal league finish.

Gavin Woodward was a welcome new face in the frame, landing six Carp on the method feeder with pellet on the hook from peg 9 to finish with 36lb 8oz.

Last of the big weights was Kieron Loane on peg 23 with an all Carp bag weighing 29lb. Kieron's good form in the last three competitions boosted him to a sixth place league finish.
