Championship Round Five.
Eighteen anglers turned out for the fifth and penultimate round of Harleston Junior Angling Club's popular summer series held in the Dan Turton Lake at Weybread. The Dan Turton Lake has been in excellent form all season, it's a deep clear lake with big stocks of Tench, Rudd and Bream leaving the anglers with plenty of tactical decisions to get the best from their pegs. Young Holly Spooner on her first ever fishing trip recorded the top weight of the night with a bit of help from dad from hot peg 41 on the club pit bank netting Tench up to four and a half pounds on pole fished corn presented at eight metres for a 29lb 1oz catch. Ian Lange secured his first placing with a fine performance from peg 7 netting a mixed catch of Tench and quality Rudd on maggot and corn to finish with 16lb 4oz. Ricky Leggett again returned a solid performance to collect valuable points and now tops the league with 75 points. Ricky landed 14lb 9oz of Tench up to four pounds from peg 22 on pellet and maggot pole fished at four metres. Daniel Elliott included the biggest fish of the night in his 12lb 14oz catch a whopping 5lb 8½oz specimen taken on the method feeder from peg 31. On the league front it's now down to a two horse race to decide this seasons Club Champion between Ricky Leggett and Jack Weatherley, with Jack needing to win the final match to stand any chance.
League to date.
