Harleston and Wortwell Junior Angling Club 2004.

Weybread Club Pit, Round Five of the Harleston Junior Angling Club's summer series.

Winner Travis Woodward slides another fish to the waiting net.Interest is still high for the Harleston Junior Angling Club' s summer series with eighteen anglers turning out for the fifth and penultimate round. The fishing was slower than previous weeks with a cold weather front pushing in and torrential rain cooling the water resulting in a low weights and a close fought competition.

Twelve year old Travis Woodward again produced an excellent result taking his second win of the season by the narrowest of margins from Ricky Leggett with an all carp catch weighing a level 16lb. Travis drew peg 8 in the corner and fished his favourite method feeder tactic tight up against the far bank. Two carp graced his net in the first hour to open up a good lead over Ricky who was steadily catching small crucians and silver fish on peg 32. Four more fell to his pellet hookbaits in a golden spell mid match and a further fish was landed on his very last cast to steal the win in the dying minutes. His win has set up a real cliffhangerRicky Leggett with his catch. finish to the season with three anglers now in with a chance to take the title in the last match of the season. Both the front-runners Jack Weatherley and reigning champion Daniel Elliott failed to add to their point's totals. The 20 points Travis scored for his victory has pushed him up to third place in the table and is now in with a chance to take the title at his first attempt if he can win the last match.

Diss junior star Ricky Leggett finished second his best result of the season fishing long pole at thirteen metres for the full three hours fish up tight to the island to steadily land small crucians and roach all match on corn and pellet to keep the pressure on Travis. By the last hour his consistent catch rate was beginning to show as he clawed his way back into the match and closed the gap on Travis, he then landed two better stamp carp in the last five minutes but it was not quite enough and he finished agonisingly 10oz short of his first win of the season with 15lb 6oz.

Fish'O'Mania champion Daniel Elliott finished third landing three carp in the last half an hour on floaters from peg 5 on the bar for 11lb 7oz.

In fourth place was Kaden Spooner with one carp and small fish for 8lb 14oz just edging out Edward Howman with 8lb 8oz and ten year old Samuel Clifford with 8lb 1oz.
