Harleston and Wortwell Junior Angling Club

Round one June 21st 2001

A warm overcast evening promised some good fishing for this first round match, but a north west wind left the fifteen entries struggling for bites.


The Winner

At the final whistle it was ten year old Daniel Elliott fishing in his first freshwater competition who finished top. Daniel drew peg 12 and winkled out three small carp and a few small fish. All taken on pole fished caster "down the edge" for a modest weight of four pounds.


Second Place

Thirteen year old James Bygrave from Chedgrave also fishing his first match at the club, finished in the runners up spot. James waggler fished maggots over groundbait, and loosefed maggot to take three small carp and some small fish to finish with 2lb 10oz.


Third

In Third place was his travelling partner Kyle Savage with 1lb 7oz of small fish taken on waggler and maggot.


Golden Maggot

The Golden Maggot ended as a tie between James Bygrave and Daniel Hines with four species each, this was decided by a "bucket shoot out" with James winning the five pound P.M.Pegg tackle voucher to add to his £5 second place prize.
