Harleston junior Angling Club's third round of the popular summer series was fished in the Club Lake at Weybread. A rise in temperature leading up to this competition coupled with clear skies and warm hazy evening sunshine to greet the anglers pushed the attendance up to fifteen all keen to battle with the lakes prolific Carp shoals.

Abby Thomas all smiles as she displays her second placed catch.Caden Spooner tightened his grip on the leagues top spot scoring another win, winning a two-way battle with newcomer Abby Thomas. Caden landed seven big Carp from peg 11 all tempted from the surface with dog biscuits presented on a candle rig for a winning 31lb 10oz.

In second place matching Caden fish for fish throughout the three-hour competition was thrilled fifteen-year-old newcomer Abby Thomas finishing one fish short with 27lb 8oz, a remarkable performance considering she only took up fishing in the morning. Borrowed tackle and a day's instruction and careful coaching from her boyfriend last year Club Champion Edward Howman saw her fishing career take a flying start. Abby drew peg 15 and started well landing five big Carp on the candle rig before the fish moved off, not content she proved she was also multi talented with a change to pole and pellet fished tight to the lilies accounting for two big Tench and another two smaller Carp to round of an excellent night.

Third placed Travis Woodward drew peg 12 and kept his hopes of league glory alive with another good performance fishing the method feeder tight to the island point he netted a steady stream of small carp to weight 23lb 7oz and score vital points.

Travis Woodward with his catch.Jake Morton pushed himself up to third place in the league after a fine performance of 'up in the water fishing' lightly feeding pellets on a regular basis just over the margin lilies soon had the fish near the surface and competing for the bait, banded pellet presented with the pole was the killer bait netting a creditable 18lb 3oz.
