The new change in venues for this seasons Harleston Junior Angling Championship, which previously alternated between the two carp lakes; to one match in each lake on the Weybread complex saw twelve keen anglers lining the banks of the No 1 pit. With this new venue a complete new set of tactics and strategies faced the anglers not least the very poor early season form of the lake with the main target species Roach being noticeably by their absence and the Bream shoals proving unreliable, clear water and blazing hot sunshine added to the problems. With the odds stacked against them it was always going to be a low weight struggle and avoiding the dreaded blank was the first priority to get some valuable league points.

James Lowe finished second with this catch.Top weight and maximum points on the night went to Diss angler Ricky Leggett with a mere 1lb Ľoz. Ricky set up a waggler rod and fished shallow all evening, loose feeding bronze maggot to land six Roach from peg six to pip James Lowe to top place by just two ounces.

The new tactics involved and low weights saw some new names in the frame with James Lowe pushing Ricky all the way to the final whistle for the coveted top spot. James landed five Roach and lost three potential match winning fish from peg 14 fishing a four metre whip to hand with maggot over cloud groundbait to record his highest placing with 14Ľoz and a well deserved second place.

New starter ten year old Reece Clayden who only started fishing at the start of the season done well from peg 25 on the deep bank to winkle out four small Perch and one Roach and land third place with 8˝oz again on four metre whip fished to hand with red maggot over slop.

Andrew Clifford just missed out on a top three placing netting four Roach on pole fished shallow from peg 15 to weigh 6ľoz.

Jack Weatherley held on to top spot in the league table with a fifth placed catch of just 3Ľoz from peg 8 landing two fish on waggler presented up in the water to collect valuable points.

Third placed Reece Clayden with his catch.
