Weybread Club Pit, Round three of the Harleston Junior Angling Club's summer series.

Winner Jack Weatherley.The third round of Harleston Junior Angling club's summer series attracted fourteen keen anglers away from the football to the Club pit at Weybread. The youngsters were greeted with some very unseasonal weather with storm clouds brewing and temperatures dropping rapidly all evening leaving many shivering at the finish.

Jack Weatherley and Daniel Elliott's continued their championship battle, they started this competition joint top in the league with 37 points each. The Club Champion is decided over six rounds and runs on a league basis with 20 points for a win 19 for second, the lowest two scores can be dropped to give maximum of eighty points.

Daniel Elliott in action.After three hours of fishing still only one point separates them with Jack Weatherley making the most of his draw to win the event an impressive 24lb 12oz on a very hard night. Jack drew peg 26 and started the competition close in against the margin lilies catching five small carp in the first hour before bites dried up. Daniel Elliott seized the opportunity to land three big carp and take the lead going into the last hour. Jack responded well cupping in a big pot of pellets on the long pole line, then fishing slightly over depth with soft pellet on the hook he was instantly back into action landing a big common on his first drop in. Bagging up until the end he landed 15lb of fish in the last hour to seize the win and league top spot with 57 points.

Daniel Elliott keeps the pressure on Jack finishing a close second only one fish behind, Daniel landed four large carp from peg 11 on the car park bank to weigh 19lb 7oz. All his fish fell to pole fished meat, Daniel fished two lines and alternated between them all night catching a fish on each line before feeding and resting the swim to fool the wary fish.

Twelve year old Travis Woodward continued his good start to the season finishing third from peg 13, his 13lb 6oz catch pushes him to third in the league rankings with 47 points in his first season's fishing. Travis caught four carp on the method feeder fishing with hair-rigged pellet on the hook.

Andrew Clifford landed one carp and small fish on pole-fished maggot weighing 7lb 3oz from peg 22 Andrew included a small tench, the first landed in a junior competition for four years in his bag.
