Harleston Angling Club Junior Results June 26th 2003.Another good attendance of seventeen lined the bank of Weybread Middle pit for the latest round of Harleston Junior Angling club's summer league. There was a nice cloud cover for the evening but a North wind made bites very hard to come by for the less experienced anglers leaving five dry nets, nether the less one hundred and seven pounds of fish were brought to the scales for a rod average of six pounds and five ounces.
Daniel Elliott rose to the top of the league after two rounds when he thrashed the competition with this seasons highest weight, consisting of six big Mirror Carp and four Skimmers for 36lb 14oz. Daniel drew peg nineteen and set his stall out to fish the method feeder at range into the middle of the lake, using a secret groundbait mix with no loose feed added and double red maggot on the hook. Daniel caught two carp early to open up a good lead, then a run of good skimmers mid match kept his catch rate ticking over before he delivered the killer punch in the last hour landing another four big Mirrors.
With the big weights out of the way, third place was a hotly contested position with six anglers only separated by two pounds. Top of the chasing pack was fifteen-year-old James Bygrave from Lodden with one Carp of eight pounds fourteen taken off the surface with chum mixers to just pip his travelling partner Kyle Savage. Kyle back from a long lay off from fishing also caught one big carp on the floater weighing eight pound six ounce. Six ounces separated the next three with Thomas Sage on peg 34 weighing three Crucians and some roach for seven pounds three, Lisa Sillett peg 31 caught four big Crucians to weigh seven pounds and Charlie fishing peg 29 had one big Common to hold second place in the league with six pounds thirteen ounce.
