Harleston Junior Angling Clubs fourth round fixture attracted a good turnout with twelve hopefuls lining the banks of the Bottle Pit in a bid to get amongst the vast Tench shoals this lake has to offer, rivalling any venue in the country at the moment for quality Tench fishing. The weather leading up to the event was not favourable with the temperature dropping and vast amounts of rain cooling the water but with the sheer numbers of fish present confidence was still high.

Jake Morton with his second placed catch. The father and son combination of Caden Spooner and his father Paul again proved unstoppable with Caden topping the field with another big Tench weight of 30lb 8oz. Caden drew permanent peg 33 end peg on the night and landed a stream of small Tench and a bonus Carp all landed with heavy pole tackle fished at eight metres, loose fed pellet with soft expanders on the hook completed the set up. With the top four results from the six matches to count Twelve year old Caden has now clinched the series being crowned champion with two matches still left to fish amassing an unassailable 79 points from three wins and a second place.

Patience was the key for Jake Morton as he continued his good form this season topping a three-way battle to land a thoroughly deserved second place. Drawing peg 31 one of the favoured pegs in the reeds he found the going tough landing only two small Tench and a handful of small fish in the first two hours, but a change of fortunes in the last hour saw him power his way through the field as Tench after Tench fell to his pellet attack landing twenty pounds of fish in the last hour to finish with 23lb 12oz and nineteen league points pushing him up to third place with two rounds to go.

Scott Allen finished third, by far his best performance to date the result of three midweek practice sessions showing as he treated us to an excellent display of long pole fishing from permanent peg 22 again an end peg. Breaking with the pellet norm Scott fed sweetcorn lightly just three or four grains at a time to get the fish interested and presented a single grain on the drop in twelve feet of water to land 21lb including a personal best monster weighing 6lb 12oz.

Scott Allen with his personal best Tench a six pond twelve ounce monster.Nathan English jumps to fourth in the league after clinching fourth place with another all Tench catch of 19lb 12oz well ahead of Travis Woodward, again pole fished pellet was the successful tactic.

Travis Woodward holds on to league second finishing fifth with 9lb 4oz.
