Harleston Junior Angling Club kicked off the new season at Weybread with the first round of the Club Championship. This six round summer league is held on Thursday evenings at the popular Weybread complex using all the lakes to keep the fishing as varied and interesting as possible.

Philip Shulver with his second placed catch. With the first round to be held in the prolific Middle pit and the weather warming up nicely during the preceding week things looked good for the eleven anglers.

Daniel Elliott showed the field just why he is Four Times Club Champion and a former junior Fish'O'Mania winner with a master class display of carp fishing skills to amass a huge 59lb 10oz bag in just three hours, more than doubling second placed Philip Shulver and leave no doubt to the final result. Daniel on peg 34 and Philip both started well with three fish each in the first hour on surface baits. Daniel switched to the pole in the second hour to give his swim a rest, and let the fish gain confidence with the constant supply of free offerings he was catapulting out but failed to add any fish to his catch. Philip had a glimpse of victory adding two more big fish to his bag to push him out in front. Resting his swim and the constant feeding paid dividends as the fish came on strong in the final hour and Daniel landed six more fish as the light faded, again all on surface baits.

Fourth placed Scott Allen displays his catch.Philip Shulver fishing peg 19 started well landing five big Carp all on surface fished dog biscuits in the first two hours and looked to be on his way to victory before the fish moved off in the last hour leaving him struggling. His 25lb 6oz catch was easily enough for second place and nineteen league points.

Rob King clinched third place with an excellent silver fish catch from peg 2. Rob fished corn and double pinkie up in the water on the pole to land fifty plus quality Roach for 12lb 12oz.

Scott Allen finished fourth his highest place to date with a good performance from peg 17 landing one big carp on the feeder topped up with Roach and Skimmers caught with a simple waggler set up to finish with 10lb 12oz.
