Harleston Junior Angling Club Last Chance Open Result.

Winner Ricky Leggett.Harleston Junior Angling club's annual end of season Open competition attracted an excellent turnout, with twenty-one junior anglers travelling from as far away as Reading to sample the excellent fishing at Weybread pits before they close at the end of the month until June 1st for maintenance work.

Settled overcast weather holding the temperature constant for the four-hour match in the Club Pit stirred the fish into feeding and producing a cracking match with over twenty pounds needed to win and no dry nets recorded.

Diss star Ricky Leggett showed his class with another good performance, Ricky made the most of his draw, pulling fancied peg 13 from the bag with an excellent display of long pole fishing. Ricky was into fish right from the start catching three and loosing one in the first half an hour sport then slowed and he stuck at it to finish with six good carp for a total of 20lb 3oz all caught on pellet and corn fished hard on the deck, loose feeding pellets over the top.

Daniel Elliott.Harleston club and Fish'O'Mania champion Daniel Elliott pushed Ricky hard from corner peg 8 finishing one fish short with 16lb 9oz. Daniel suffered a slow start before the fish moved into his peg he then clawed his way back into the competition with three big fish in double quick time to put the pressure on Ricky, Daniel could only add one more fish to finish with four big carp. All Daniel's fish were caught with meat fished at thirteen metres under the far bank cover.

A new name in the frame was young James Aston with an excellent performance of long pole fishing from peg 4. James caught consistently for the full four hours to land two big Mirror Carp and five smaller Common Carp pole fishing with expander pellets from peg 4 for a total weight of 12lb 11oz and a well earned third place.

Close behind was Christmas Open winner Edward Howman who again fished a tidy match to land four Common's on pole fished pellets from tight to the bankside reeds on peg 14, his 11lb 9oz was just enough to pip Andrew Clifford on peg 7 who landed a personal best match catch of 10lb 3oz.
