Harleston and Wortwell Junior Angling Club

Harleston Angling Club Junior Results For the Last Chance Open 2003.

Waveney Valley Angling Centre's Last Chance Junior Open attracted an exceptional Daniel Elliott with his winning catch.turnout of sixteen keen youngsters to the Harleston Angling club's Club pit at Weybread. A warm day with good cloud cover promised some good fishing for this end of season fixture, but just the slightest of north winds killed any chance of a big weight. All sixteen anglers caught, with the humble Gudgeon happy to feed in any weather condition, these small fish supplied most of the fun. All sixteen competitors left smiling with a tackle prize donated by the local tackle shop.

Daniel Elliott (pictured right) finished of his amazing season with another comfortable win, fishing from peg 13 Daniel landed four carp and a decent skimmer Bream late in the match using the long pole with a soft pellet hookbait to weigh 8lb 4oz leaving him over 3lb clear of second placed James Blake from Fressingfield. Daniel won a new trophy and a Shakespeare clock with a selection of fishing tackle and bait from Waveney Angling Centre.

James drew peg ten and led the field for the first half of the competition thanks to a decent Common Carp he caught on just his second cast.James Blake had this good carp early on to lead for most of the competition. James opted to fish a small feeder filled with his favourite groundbait cast as close as possible to the island, the Carp was tempted with a small hook baited with red maggot. James added plenty of Gudgeon but his final weight of 4lb 14oz was not enough to challenge Daniel.

Third placed Thomas Sage fished an excellent match from peg 3, Thomas fished with a full 13 meter pole, baiting close to the island for the whole three hour competition to land two small carp for a well earned 2lb 10oz, Thomas also lost four other Carp and with a bit more luck he may have challenged Daniel for the winners prize.

Kieron Loane also fished well to take fourth position landing scores of small Gudgeon and roach on waggler fished maggot fishing from peg six to finish with a very respectable 2lb 4oz.

Harleston Junior Angling club would like to thank Waveney Valley Angling Centre and Shakespeare for donating the top quality prizes.
