Mendham Bridge.

Looking downstream from peg 7.Location-The small village of Mendham can be found about two miles south of Harleston . From Harleston Market place turn right then first right, first left just past the church and carry on to the bypass, left onto the bypass then turn right immediately, straight over the small crossroads at the bottom of the hill and you will see the bridge.

For access to the fishery park carefully beside the road or in the church lane just over the bridge. The fishing runs downstream to the dyke just past the weir pool on the Norfolk bank (opposite side to the village) and upstream one marsh on the same bank.

Description- A deep slow section with little or no flow during the summer and plenty of weed, slightly wider than most of the other sections.

Tactics and pegs- The best pegs are around the bridge, in summer you can normally catch a few roach and perch on maggot or caster. The bridge is also home to a few good chub and tench with chopped worm and caster the top bait. The bridge used to really come alive in the winter and big bags were common, now the big bags are uncommon, but occasionally some one drops lucky and has a really good day. Try the weir pool for some big perch and chub or just upstream around the alders again for chub, the chub are resident so you can catch them summer or winter.
