Harleston and Wortwell Junior Angling Club 2004.

NFA Junior National, Shropshire Union Canal.

Harleston Junior Angling Club once again fielded a six-man team in the National Federation of Anglers Junior National held on the Shropshire Union Canal near Newport in Shropshire. The team had never seen a Canal before so this was a totally new experience to all of them. Having never fished on a canal before the plan was to treat the day as a practice and gain some valuable canal fishing information for the NJAA national later in the year on the Kennet and Avon canal at Swindon and of course avoid finishing last. As a whole this was achieved with all the team members catching on a hard but fair venue and finishing 20th from the 27 teams fishing with 69 points well behind the winners Warrington AA Gold who scored a tremendous 118 points.

Gavin Woodward was top weight with 580g.D Section (645g)
Gavin Woodward
No Gavin didn't have a carp a trick picture, but Gavin done well in the section with the teams top weight with 580g of small fish on squatt and long pole an excellent result as it was only the second time he has used a pole to finish with 15 points.

Jack spratt with a canal roach.E Section (620g)
Jack Weatherley
Top points for Jack Weatherley with 410g for 16 points. Jack also learned some valuable information on the day being late starting through carring to much junk in his netbag and having to make two trips to his peg. He then didn't have time to mix any crumb for and deceided to cup in caster instead, then fished squatt over top to lose a big bonus chub OOPS! lesson learnt.

Edward Howman with his ten gram gudgeon.F Section (521g)
Edward Howman
Edward drew the hard F section and struggled all day to land one small gudgeon for 10 grams and 5 welcome points.
