NJAA Knockout Final June 12th. Harleston Juniors qualified for the NJAA Knockout final beating a strong Kings Lynn side at Weybread Club Pit. A trip was arranged to check the venue out the week before the match was due, advertised as one of the premier Midlands fisheries hopes were high. On arriving at the fishery truth dawned a sad looking place with loads of small canal type ponds, worse was to come we were informed that we would be fishing the new lakes complete with lower fish stocks and no features or cover anywhere.
The practice produced nine small pale scabby carp between three anglers over 6 hours, so now we knew looks bad fishes even worse, but at least we had an idea of depths and bottom features. The only peg catching was the end peg, a quick look at the Fish'O'Mania qualifier in the other lakes we would be fishing confirmed that we would need a low or high draw to be in with a chance.
The draw was left to 'draw bag golden hand Daniel Elliott' captain for the day. Daniel went up for the draw and managed to pull out peg 7 from a possible 11 not quite the middle but close. The team done well from the draw all catching at least one fish on a day where dry nets were common, Harleston's points total of 30 left them way back in 8th position only beating the teams on the adjacent pegs including Worksop Juniors one of the top teams in the country much to the whole teams delight.
