The River Waveney.

The River Waveney.Harleston Angling Club also controls the fishing on about 3 miles of the upper River Waveney from Lucks Mill situated between Needham and Brockdish then running downstream to Mendham Mill. Club control is not continuous as the river meanders through lowland marshes home to plenty of cows so beware and don't leave your tackle laying about.

The river is narrow with 13m maximum, flow is varied with fast shallows running into deeper glides and lengths with very little flow or none at all in dry summers. Location is the key to good bags, each swim is different and needs to be tackled accordingly, in summer location is made easy with the clear shallow water. In winter the roach and dace move into their winter quarters at the mills and bridges and where ever they can find cover from the floods and cold winter winds.
