Harleston and Wortwell Junior Angling Club 2004.

Santas Special 2004.

Winner Jack Weatherley with his catch. On Saturday the 18th Harleston Junior Angling club hosted its annual Christmas junior open match on the Club Pit at Weybread. A bitingly cold wind kept the attendance down with only nine hardy souls braving the weather, the cold had also affected the fish, being cold-blooded they slow down their movements to burn less energy and cut down on the need to feed, making the fishing tough on the normally prolific Club pit.

Winner Jack Weatherley. After four hours fishing Jack Weatherley from Harleston produced another excellent performance to net six small carp and six silver fish and land his second open win of the season with a well earned 5lb 14oz. Jack was confident after drawing peg 16 one of the current hot pegs and opted to pole fish the deepest part of his peg, he lost two fish early on but managed to keep the fish interested by cupping a small amount of pellets and corn after each fish. Jack was rewarded with a trophy and variety of Christmas goodies for his efforts.

Diss angler Ricky Leggett made sure Jack didn't have it all his own way pushing him all the way to the final whistle with two small carp and a bag of small roach and gudgeon all caught on pole fished maggot from peg 11to finish close behind with 5lb 7oz

Gavin Woodward finished the frame with an excellent all roach catch from peg 8 in the corner. Gavin started the competition targeting the carp but after a slow start switched his attentions to the roach and caught steadily for the remainder of the match to weigh 4lb 2oz.
