Records fell as Jack Weatherley completed another hat trick of wins landing Harleston Junior Angling Club's annual Christmas Fayre, a four-hour open competition fished at the prolific Club Lake at Weybread. The unseasonably warm weather leading up to the competition and the promise of some warm winter sun the competitors were confident of a good days fishing and so it proved.

Jack started well pulling peg 26 from the bag, a noted peg on a point with a commanding view of the lake, and lots of fishing options which he exploited with considerable skill and patience, lightly feeding a variety of swims with pellet he was into fish from the off with pole fished pellet catching one then re feeding and moving to the next swim he was soon into a rhythm and opening a considerable lead on the rest of the field. Mid match Daniel Elliott gave chase landing five big fish in as many casts before they moved on leaving Jack to complete his hat trick with a new record weight for the event a whopping 38lb 10oz.

Daniel Elliott landed second place from peg four fishing tight into the undercut corner with meat to land five fish totalling 23lb 8oz.

A star for the future Jake Morton clinched third place from peg 7 with a competent display of pole fishing, feeding micro pellet and presenting caster over the top he was soon landing a new personal best Carp a good conditioned 3½lb, a good run of Roach throughout the match and another personal best to finish in the shape of a three pound bream completed his 9lb 4oz catch another new best to finish a memorable day for the youngster.
